American College of Rheumatology campaign helps people understand how diseases like lupus affect ability to do everyday tasks
The American College of Rheumatology launches its Simple Tasks campaign today (www.SimpleTasks.org). The initiative aims to raise awareness of the severe impact of rheumatic diseases – such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and gout – on the U.S. population and to highlight the importance of rheumatologists in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.

Genetic clue behind rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune disorders identified
London, August 15 (ANI): A team of scientists has found significant new clues to the development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other autoimmune disorders including type 1 diabetes, lupus and Graves disease.
Using advanced genomics technologies, Dr. Katherine Siminovitch and her team identified the exact means by which an alteration in the gene PTPN22 increases risk for RA and other autoimmune disorders.
